Tourist Attraction in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh India
Mahaparinirvana Stupa:
Mahaparinirvana Stupa is known for reclining Buddha Statue which is representative of “Dying Buddha.” Statue is 6.10 meters long and is made of monolith red sandstone. Dying Buddha is reclining on his right side with his face towards the west. An inscription dates the statue to 5th Century AD. It is placed on a large brick-pedestal with stone-posts at the corners.
This huge brickwork stupa was discovered in excavations in 1876. At this site, a copper vessel was discovered that bears an inscription in ancient Brahmi, which stated that Lord Buddha's remains had been deposited here. Along with this, silver coins of 5th century A.D. were also unearthed at this site.

The Mahaparinirvana Temple:
This was built by the Indian government in 1956, meant as a commemoration of the 2500 years since the Buddha attained parinirvana. Inside this temple, one can find the famous statue of the reclining Buddha, believed to depict the last hour of the Buddha’s life. The 6.1 m figure carved out of chunar sandstone lies on a stone couch, and the level detail goes further to include three sculptures at the front of the couch, supposedly meant to signify Ananda, Subbhadda, and Doha. Mathakuar Shrine
This shrine is about 400 yards from the Nirvana Stupa. A stone image of Lord Buddha seated under the "Bodhi Tree" in a pose known as the 'Bhumi Sparsha Mudra' (earth touching posture) under the Bodhi Tree was excavated here. The inscription at the base of the statue dates it to 10th-11th century. Adjacent to this shrine, ruins of a monastery have also been discovered.
Ramabhar Stupa (Mukutbandhan Chaitya)
It believed that this was the site were the Buddha’s body was cremated. The Stupa stands at a height of 49 feet, and is merely 1.5 km away from the Mahaparivana Templeon the Kushinagar-Deoria road. There is a seasonal lake called Ramabhar Lake. In ancient Buddhist texts, this Stupa has been referred to as 'Mukut-BandhanChaitya'."
Watt Thai Temple
This is a huge temple complex built in the typical Thai Buddhist architectural style. This is built by Thailand Government in cultural exchange with India. Watt Thai Temple is beautiful in architecture.

Kushinagar Buddha Museum
Kushinagar Buddha Museum was opened in 1922-23. It features a wide array of artifacts uncovered during the excavations of the area undertaken by Carlyle and J. Ph. Vogel, many prominent findings having been made in numerous campaigns through the first decade of the twentieth century.
