You can reach Nalanda by any means of transport like Buses, trains and flights. Nalanda is connected through Patna (90 KM)and Bodhgaya Airports (83 KM). Nearest Railway Station is Nalanda Railway Station which can be accessed by local trains. You can board trains from Bodhgaya and Patna for Nalanda. Buses regularly operate from Bodhgaya, Rajgir(14 KM) and Patna for Nalanda.

Buddhism in Nalanda
Both Lord Buddha and Mahavira visited this place and it remained a renowned learning centre till 12th century until it was destroyed in Muslim invasion. Kings of Gupta, Kushana and Pala dynasties were the chief patrons of the centre, who built several monasteries and temples. The famous Chinese traveler Hieun Tsang (Xuan Zang) studied here and his documents provide details about the university.
